Multiple Medals at the Middlesex Indoor Champs

A strong showing at Lee Valley saw our Junior athletes secure no fewer than ten medals at the Middlesex Indoor Championships. Our seniors picked up a further four. A string of PBs built expectations that there’ll be a lot more to come in April, when the Track & Field action moves outdoors.

A solid start on Saturday

Nereci Da Silva maintained her dominant form in the Triple Jump to win U17W gold, while Irati Ajanlekoko-Gomendio (U20W High Jump), Edgar Ewing-Wetherall (U17M Long Jump), Zhane Pilgrim (U15W High Jump) and Jesse Katabazi (U20M 200m) all picked up silvers.

Followed by a Super Sunday

Sunday saw two more gold medals, for Chanttal Abaga-Valcarcel, with a PB in U20W Long Jump and Geneva Adomako-Yeboah, in U15W 200m. Strong PBs in the 400m secured silver and bronze for Kai Fellows and David Isibor in the U17M race and silver for Aaron Barrett-Mowatt in the U20M. While the senior competitions typically saw fewer entrants, VPH&TH athletes picked up four medals. Bomi Bello recorded a fine win in the Men’s Triple Jump, Widad Ibrahim finished 1st and 3rd in the Women’s 400m and 800m and David Shortridge finished 2nd in the Men’s 60m Hurdles. Congratulations to all our athletes and a huge thank you to Coaches, Kelvin Richards, Alf and Claudine Vickers.
