New & Prospective Members

We are a very friendly athletics club based in Victoria Park, east London. We have a wide range of members, from absolute beginners to
world-class athletes.

New prospective members are very welcome to trial two free sessions (before committing to the paid membership). If you are interested in road running & cross country (and middle distances on the track from 5000m upwards), simply turn up at the London Community Track on Tuesday evenings at 7:15pm for the interval session or our clubhouse on Thursday evenings at 7pm for the social group runs, and be ready to run. Ask for the training organiser and he/she will ensure you are welcomed into the group and given a clear session briefing.

Senior Training Sessions

The most popular regular club sessions take place weekly:

  • Monday, 7:00pm: Strength & Conditioning / Circuit training at the clubhouse in Victoria Park
  • Tuesday, 7:30pm: Interval training meeting at the London Community Track in Stratford
  • Thursday, 7:00pm: Group runs 5k, 10k, 16k (various member led pace groups based on demand in a friendly and relaxed environment).
  • Thursday, 7:00pm: ‘Project V’ tempo training meeting as a group at the clubhouse first, then jogging to specific locations within the Olympic Park (in Stratford) or nearby Springfield Park (in Upper Clapton). The session focuses on threshold pace work, which can be described as medium effort intervals that may last up to 10 minutes (a variation on shorter track workouts).
  • Sunday, 9:30am: Group runs 5k, 10k, 16k (various member led pace groups based on demand in a friendly and relaxed environment). No formal meet up as such, but members generally exchange contact details during other club sessions and make individual arrangements to meet at the clubhouse within Victoria Park.

See the training page for more details.

The above is quite separate from the specialist track and field training at Mile End Stadium. If you’re interested in a particular specialist track and field event (primarily for track distances under 5000m and field events), please send an email to contact one of our specialist coaches Alf Vickers or Cornelia Abe-Minale. Who can advise you in making arrangements to join a training group at Mile End Stadium on a Tuesday or Thursday evening from 6:30pm.

The club participates across a variety of one-off races, championships and league events. These include: the Metropolitan XC league, the Chingford league, the Assembly league, the Southern Athletics league (“SAL”), Southerns & National relays, and various Cross Country Championships.

Please see the club calendar for upcoming events.
