Victoria Park Harriers and Tower Hamlets Athletics Club has many members under the age of 17 taking part in track, field and cross country training and competitions.

Comprehensive coaching is provided and some of our junior members have gone on to compete and win medals at European, Commonwealth, World or Olympic levels, including Perri Shakes-Drayton and Mike McFarlane.

Introducing young people to running, throwing and jumping is one of our most important goals. Most will never be international athletes, but we can all have fun, get fitter and make new friends. Once you are involved with the Club we can provide coaching in every field of athletics. If you have a particular talent it will get noticed, and we will be able to feed you through to top international coaching and support schemes. If you do well at school in athletics, joining the club is a great opportunity to nurture your talent in a way that will never be possible through school alone.

Junior training sessions

In general, training times are from 5:30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please note that we are unable to take children until they are 9 years old. During school holidays, some groups may change training times.

See the training page for more details.

We expect parents to attend with children under 11. To help expand our activities for this age group we would happily welcome more parents to come forward to get involved. If you do express an interest, you will be asked to complete our volunteer declaration form as part of our child safeguarding policy.

These are schedule all year round and include (to name a few): English Schools, London Schools, Youth Development League (“YDL”), Southern Athletics League (“SAL”), Metropolitan XC League, England Athletics Championships, County Championships, Regional & National Championships.
