Strong finish to XC season at Inter Counties & English Schools

Two consecutive weekends saw our athletes head North, for major championships that brought down the curtain on the XC season.

First came the CAU Inter Counties Championships, in the scenic Wollaton Park, Nottingham, on March 9th. Next, a week later, the English Schools Championships were held at Pontefract Racecourse.

CAU Inter Counties Champs: Nottingham (9th March)

Following their success at the County Championships, six of our junior athletes qualified to represent Middlesex at the CAU Inter Counties Champs. Each race featured around 300+ of the country’s top athletes, with teams from around 45 counties or regions across the whole UK. Our runners acquitted themselves well and did their club, their county and their coach, Cornelia Abe-Minale proud. First up, in the distinctive red and yellow Middlesex vests, were Khalid Hussein and Aneirin Lessard in the U15 Boys race.

English Schools Champs: Pontefract (16th March)

Four of our Junior athletes ran again at the English Schools Championships, a week later in Pontefract. This time, they wore the all black kit of London Schools. In the first race of the day, the Inter Girls, Lyra and Ruby, were part of a London team that finished tenth, out of 46 counties.

While in the Junior Boy’s race, Khalid and Aneirin’s team finished third, an exciting finish to the cross country season!
