Race Report: Chingford League, Race 4, Trent Park

Saturday 26th November.
Race 4 of the Chingford league took place at Trent park, hosted by Barnet & District. With the sorority and fraternity cups being competed for at the same race, with strong clubs such as Highgate and Heathside making a one-off appearance. The weather conditions were favourable and the ground more runnable than in prior wet and squelchy years!

A strong showing from runners in their first or second seasons with VPH. Also hat off to the fleet-footed vets who continue to compete for the podium in the vet leagues.

Performance of the day goes to Jade dos Santos, who patiently worked her way through the field into the final lap, up from 4th place and impressively taking the win as 1st lady. Always modest and smiling from ear to ear. Jade has jumped into this season with grit and recklessness! Showing great improvement in strength and race craft through the last year or so.

She was accompanied by 4 other VPH runners in the top 10. As a result, the women’s team won and retained the sorority cup in 2022 for another year (Jade DS, Laura T, Lily Z and Lydia B). Including the B team taking 3rd place on the day. Congratulations to the whole squad for turning out in force and a well deserved team award.

Julien Lepretre was first VPH home in the men’s standings (4th overall). And two club mates, Jamie C and Nick S followed in the top 10.
Props to Vincenzo F for his first race in club colours, who looked like he enjoyed the challenging course and race day vibe enough to return for the next round!

Fantastic to celebrate our team outing and stellar individual performances all possible from the immaculate herding skills by Joyce B, Lily Z and Reef A. Next Chingford league is in the new year on Sat 21 Jan at Epping forest.

Team standings and individual results will be published on the organiser website as usual: https://chingfordleague.co.uk/this-years-results/
