Race report: Annual EM and VPH mob match (88th edition)
The 88th edition of this historic race took place at Eton Manor this year. Always a cracking event and fantastic to see 70 of our finest braving the cold – and the short journey to Leyton Jubilee Park – to take on the 76 Manorites.
Joe Dale – 1st Male (16:33) put in a performance to cross the line ahead of a pack of five EM runners including Craig Stevens – 2nd Male (16:38) and James Pilch – 3rd Male (16:49) who got their club off to a very strong start.
Emily Seager – 1st Female led the way for the Women coming home in a fantastic 18:54 followed closely by Lydia Briggs – 2nd Female (19:01) and Valerie Wong (19:14) in 3rd.
It was a very strong performance from Eton Manor who had 9 runners in the top 15 but ultimately the strength of the VPH vanguard was enough to clinch victory by 261 points – the winning team being the club which scores the least points:
VPH: 4666 (winners by 261)
EM: 4927
Massive thank you to Eton Manor and all of their volunteers for being such hospitable hosts. We look forward to hosting the 89th edition of this great event and retaining local bragging rights for another year!
