Gold Rush At The County Champs!
May 11th/12th was County Championships weekend and VPH&TH athletes competed with distinction, both on the Track and in the Field. The majority of our athletes headed to Lee Valley, for the Middlesex Champs. There, a string of excellent performances earned them twenty medals, including nine golds. But our club was represented further afield too, including another winning performance in Worcestershire.
Nine winners at Lee Valley (Middlesex)
Our athletes took top honours in a range of events and age groups. U13G Alaia went one better than last year’s 200m second place, with a win over 75m hurdles. Her sister, Enara, won for a second time in the javelin, an event also won by Emma in the U15G age group. The U15G 300m race brought an exciting 1-2-3 for the club, with Betsy taking gold, Geneva silver and Emma bronze. Among our U17s, Lyra ran from the front for her fifth consecutive county title over 1500m, while Edgar picked up his first in the Triple Jump. Our elite U20 sprinters delivered again, with 100m victories for both Ezekiel and Michelvi. And Michael Shonibare ran an impressive 47.46 PB in his heat, before cruising to victory in the final, winning his second consecutive Senior Men’s county gold at 400m, to add to the two he previously won as an U20.

And Another Win in Worcestershire!
Our athletes were in County Champs action further afield too. Adam Millberry cruised to victory in the senior Men’s 3000m in the Worcestershire Champs, adding to the titles he’d won there previously in 2023 (10,000m) and 2021 (3,000m). Let us know about any other notable performances and we’ll add them to our report!
