A Flying Start to the Met League Finale (Juniors Report)

The 2024 Met League finale at Trent Park will live long in the memory. On a classic, muddy XC course, a storming win for our U11 Boys set the tone for a day of heroic performances. Much more was to follow. An unrivalled team spirit drove us on, to finish top of the league (unofficially), when Junior and Senior results are combined!

U11 Boys Victorious

First up, our U11 teams got the club off to a flying start! Having finished second at three previous races, our U11 Boys finally made the breakthrough, storming to victory. Matteo Cinesi leading home in 3rd, was closely followed by Herbie Dimmock 6th, Raphael Thomas 7th and Jamal Haji 8th, sealing second place as a team for the season. The U11 Girls also saved their best team race to last, finishing third. Elsa Valori (4th) and Kathryn Hailey (5th) both recorded their third top 5 finishes.

Another win for Aidan

Our stand-out junior performer on the day – and over the season – was Aidan Wolpert. Surging ahead of the field in the U13B race, Aidan recorded his third Met League win, reaffirming his dominance of the division.

Third place in the Howard Williams Junior Trophy

Clashes with school races once again depleted our U15/17 teams but consistent contributions from Monika Panoutsou (2nd U17W over the season) and the likes of Grace Ring and Ethan Genn (both ever present at all five races) helped us achieve respectable league positions. Overall, in the Howard Williams Junior trophy, we finished third, behind Shaftesbury and Woodford but a point ahead of Heathside. Just enough to mean that VPH&THAC ranked first in the Met League (unofficially), when Junior and Senior results are combined!
