Announcement: Southern Athletics League (“SAL”) 2023 season
Gavin LauOur club members are becoming more familiar with the cadence of the fixtures across the full calendar year. Road racing and XC often occupies the autumn and winter months, leading to the marque spring marathon season.
VPH&THAC has a long and proud track and field heritage with strong junior teams and a current objective to renew interest across the senior events over the summer period. Alf Vickers, Cornelia Abe-Minale and the core track & field coaching and admin team invest countless hours to support our athletes, and are always willing to welcome new interested runners.
The preparations for the 2023 Southern Athletics League (“SAL”) are underway, never too early to save the dates in your calendar. The detailed event schedule runs between 12 – 5pm:
- Sat 20 May – Finsbury Park
- Sun 18 June – Mile End
- Sun 9 July – St Albans
- Sat 19 August – Woodford
- Sat 9 September – TBC
Both athletes and officials are required, so please do get in touch with Lily Zechmann or Tony Macdowall if you have an interest in getting involved during this year.
- 2 scorers required for each event (separate men’s and women’s races). Additional runners can participate as non-scorers.
- Events include: 800m; 1500m; 3000m/5000m; 2000m/3000m Steeple Chase; throws; jumps; 4x400m relays.
