Race Report: Three Bridges Relay

Words by Helen Goddard. The Three Bridges Relay returned to the original course on the 14th June for the first time since 2019 after a break for covid, and then two years at the course on the Greenwich Peninsula. It felt brilliant to be back. Thirty eight VPHians lined up one by one in the warm summer evening, made up of 8 men’s and 3 women’s teams.

At the half chime of Big Ben, we were off racing along the Albert Embankment to Vauxhall Bridge, before crossing to the North side of the river and heading home across Lambeth Bridge.

The jade and blue vests came thick and fast, with men’s teams A – D and women’s A & B teams coming in the top ten.

For the 4th year, we took 1st place in both women’s and men’s teams, with vph men taking the top 7 individual places.

Jack Bibbings, 1st overall and new senior course record for the club. Joe Dale came roaring home to incredible cheers to bring the A team to victory and take the new vet record.

Jo Hall came an incredible third place overall, taking the club’s new senior women’s title and three of our women in the top ten overall. Miry Mayer taking the club’s new vet title. Thank you to Simeon Bennett & Dan McPhilimey for volunteering to run twice to build a team.

Thank you also to Keithly Mussington for jumping in at short notice, and massive thank you to David Warwick for 1. Turning up to run despite a bit of an injury, and 2. Stepping in at the last moment to run another leg to make up a team. I wouldn’t really have made you hop the course.

Congratulations to all who took part, every runner and team is valuable. It doesn’t matter if you’re fast, slow or anything in between. It’s all about the team work. Final results are published on the Stock Exchange AC website here.

See you all next year!
