Race report: The Big Half 2023
Gavin LauOn Sunday 3 September, a sea of jade and blue took over the Big Half! Although on the first day of this summer’s heatwave we have had far from ideal running weather conditions, we have seen an impressive number of 108 athletes starting the race under the club name.
We have seen amazing efforts, many smiles, waves and high fives from VPHers all around the course. A perfect day that once again confirmed the power of the VPH club spirit!
Congratulations to our first woman Lydia Briggs (1:23:44, 31st woman overall) and our first man Tom Holliday aka Lily Partridge’s waterboy (1:10:31, 44th man overall).
Special shout out to our inspiring VPH&THAC trio… Gerry Akkrigg running alongside Will Yeates and Russell Toone, building from strength to strength and conquering the half marathon on his current running journey. Three fantastic personalities of the club which made the team day out all the more meaningful when running to support one of your dear club mates.
Big kudos also goes to all those that joined us for a celebratory drink and bite at the pub afterwards!
