Race Report: adventures at the Trail des Gorges de l’Ardèche
A small but perfectly formed group of VPH&THAC runners participated in the technical race Trail des Gorges de l’Ardèche in France and came back with some pretty impressive results!
Jo Singer, Joe Dale and Josselyn Polini participated in the 23km (700m ascent) with Jo coming in 6th Female/ 1st v50-55 Female, Joe 2nd Male / 1st v40-45 Male, and Jossi running the extra miles. Despite her aversion to via ferrata, Philippa Cockman crossed the finishing line of the 41km (1550m ascent). In the 55km (2120m ascent) race despite struggling with some unexpected cramps, Fabien Lassonde finished strong coming in 3rd Male / 1st v40-45 Male. All in all everyone had a fantastic day out thanks to (ex-)members/cheerers Declan, Rob and Sue!
Philippa gave a very frank but optimistic account of her experience: “…still recovering! 45k of stunning scenery, not a lot very runnable – for me anyway. Included a visit to beautiful caves, crawling through another, lots of rocky scrambles and the odd via ferrata thrown in! Oh and a river crossing in a canoe and a thunderstorm… all together quite an adventure!”
