Event Report: VPH&THAC Summer Relays & BBQ

Words by James Hirst: It was a glorious evening in Victoria Park as the summer relays came calling once again to mark the end of school term. It was great to see a huge turnout of 48 runners across twelve teams with strong showings from both the adult and junior members. It was also great to see competitive juices flowing with everyone desperate for that sweet taste of victory (and cornetto).

Whilst everyone gave it their all, in the end victory was shared between Team Blue 1 (Thom, Ruby, Rebecca and James) and Team Red 1 (Ethan, Hazel, Stephen and Pri) who were rewarded for consistency across both gruelling events, the 4x100m tune-up race, and the main 4x 1 mile relays – well done!

The real winners were of course those who stayed around for the BBQ where hungry competitors were treated to a feast for the ages and it would be remiss not to say a massive thank you to everyone involved in volunteering to putting on the BBQ and the event itself.

We wish all our club members and those close to you a well deserved summer break. The next club events coming up include:

  • Thursday 27 July (7pm start) – Monthly club handicap (5 Mile summer course)
