Announcement: Club athlete representing England at Copenhagen Marathon
Gavin LauAlex Lawrence raced the Copenhagen Marathon today, representing England in the Elite squad of 8 runners (4 women and 4 men). A tough race with warming conditions, Alex completed another sub 2:20 marathon, crossing the line 15th overall in 2:19:38. Please join us in congratulating Alex on a strong performance and gaining more experience in high profile elite races.
A gifted yet humble athlete. Competing well with our squad in the 2022/23 Met XC league. Some impressive recent performances on the road as well, breaking 2:18 twice in 2022 including setting a PB of 2:17:41 at the Hamburg Marathon and setting a 5km PB (14:21) at the recent Amargh International 5k in Feb-23.
He represents a broader group of athletes that train together at VPH&THAC that compete at the elite / sub-elite level, and it is very exciting to see what the strength and depth in the club squad can achieve together in the seasons to come.
