After midnight on Wednesday 2nd December, London will move back into Tier 2 lockdown rules. It should be noted that the UK Government confirmed that this new tier system by region will be reviewed every two weeks, with the first review scheduled for Wednesday 16th December 2020.
Our understanding is that the ‘rule of 6’ for meeting outside in a public place will apply once again. According to Government and England Athletics guidance, outdoor sports operating in a Covid secure environment remain exempt from the rule of 6, and must adhere to coach/leader ratios (for example: 1:12 for young people prescribed by EA).
Club sessions operating in a “Covid secure” environment, including regular coached sessions and self-guided group runs will restart in the coming weeks, (returning to ‘pre-lockdown’ arrangements).
The respective club organisers and coaches will be making separate communications in due course to outline the details, timings and any venue information related to sessions being restarted.
As before, current planned activities are subject to change (or suspension) on short notice if UK Government or England Athletics guidance is amended further.
We continue to encourage members to use our informal networks to meet fellow runners (if you are looking for company) as long as the arrangement is in line with current lockdown rules.
On behalf of the board,
